Michael Wilcox

ARTIST:  M. Wilcox

The artist, M. Wilcox, describes his life as one comprising uncommon achievements and near devastating losses; yet, admits he has some difficulty telling them apart.  Using metaphor, he expresses a preference for the rollercoaster to that of the merry-go-round, yet fears heights. He has longed for security, yet knows he could never bear it.  The artist believes his work, and the way he creates it, may echo his contradictory and inadvertent life. Much is happenstance. Wilcox is self-taught in the fields of encaustic art, guitar, and song-writing. His interest in encaustics began in San Diego during the mid-90’s, and continues to be his preferred format. He also has an interest and practice in the art of understated pen and ink.
